"The History of Sissinghurst Garden"

by Stephen Harmer

I am a garden history lecturer and Head Gardener (Tonbridge School). I have taught at various colleges and for the RHS at Wisley. I have a masters degree in garden history and have written a book entitled, La Chaire, The Story of Jerseys Lost Garden. I have done some radio work and had numerous publications for journals and magazines. Stephen

(Editor's note: Unfortunately Stephen Harmer did not present the talk we were expecting. Instead, we heard about 'Arts and Crafts Gardening'. William Morris and Gertrude Jekyll used this style for garden design as did William Morrison. Properties mentioned were Upton Grey House, Hestercombe House, Great Dixter, Hidcote and Gravetye Manor.)
